ATG to launch more shows in Manchester

The Ambassador Theatre Group (ATG) has launched ‘Manchester Gets It First’, a new initiative aimed at bringing the biggest new musicals to Manchester before London and other major cities.

The announcement follows the hugely successful run of GHOST the Musical at the Manchester Opera House, a venue owned by ATG along with the city’s Palace Theatre. The musical had its world premiere at the Opera House in March prior to opening at the Piccadilly Theatre in London’s West End in June, and sold almost 100,000 tickets during its limited seven-week run.
As a result, ATG hopes to use the city as a launchpad for other highprofile productions and has already won the backing of Manchester City Council’s chief executive, Howard Bernstein.
