Earlier this summer, social secretary Pauline Maidment organised a four-night break to Bournemouth for 22 members of the Bexhill Widows and Widowers Group, East Sussex, with Daish’s Holidays of Torquay.
It was a return trip to the seaside town for the group, following a visit in 2013 and, once again, Pauline made the arrangements with Julia Pearce, Group Sales Manager at Daish’s Holidays. Pauline says, “Julia is extremely helpful. She organised our accommodation at Daish’s Bournemouth Sands Hotel and provided us with a coach from the company’s fleet.”
The Sands Hotel is situated near Bournemouth’s West Cliff and has wonderful views across Poole Bay. Pauline says “The hotel’s location is excellent, the staff were very accommodating and the food was delicious. What’s more, every evening there were live performances in the entertainment suite, as well as games of bingo and quizzes.”
A number of daily excursions were also available from the hotel, which group members could book and pay for on arrival, allowing them to choose their own itineraries for the break. However, most of the group enjoyed days out to Winchester and the New Forest, and Weymouth and Poole. Pauline recalls, “Winchester is a lovely city with a magnificent cathedral; we wandered around the street market, which sold lots of quirky items, and strolled along the beautiful River Itchen.
“Poole was another popular destination amongst my group. It has a bustling quay and is home to Poole Pottery,” she adds.
Of Daish’s Holidays, Pauline comments, “From the outset, we were provided with such a high level of service. Julia was fantastic, as were the coach drivers and hotel staff. My group is now looking forward to our short break in November to Daish’s Hotel in Shanklin on the Isle of Wight!”
