Vera Mangold, the group’s Outings and Social Organiser, booked the trip direct through the Dockyard’s groups department. “The service I received was excellent,” she recalls. “I asked for some leaflets beforehand, which my daughter collected for me to save postage and the staff did all they could to assist.”
The group wandered around at their own leisure, allowing time to rest, and tried to see as much as possible of the site, which includes three historic ships, several museums including the now open No 1 Smithery and the Victorian ropery. “The ropery was a big hit with the group,” says Vera. “Everyone was talking about it on the journey home, and we were all amazed as to how a length of rope was made!”
She concludes, “We had a great time and also particularly enjoyed the shop at the Dockyard. All the staff were very friendly and helpful and the sun shone all day!”
