Blue Badge Guide honoured in Heart of England awards

The Heart of England Excellence in Tourism Awards 2010 winners were announced on Thursday 21st October 2010 at a ceremony at the University of Birmingham campus.

Heart of England Blue Badge Tourist Guide, Roger Bailey, was awarded ‘Outstanding Contribution to Tourism’ for his contribution to tourism in the Heart of England over many years of working in the industry.

Roger has been an official Coventry Green Badge Tourist Guide since 1995 and a regional Blue Badge Tourist Guide since 2002. Roger is also credited with producing the text for both the book and audio tour of 1000 Years of Coventry’s History.

The Heart of England Excellence in Tourism Awards are a celebration of tourism in the West Midlands and recognise quality, innovation and dedication within the tourism industry.

Roger said “To receive this award is a complete surprise and a genuine honour. I am passionate about Coventry and Warwickshire and to be recognised by your colleagues for your work and achievements in the tourism industry and to be awarded for something you genuinely love doing is a remarkable feeling.”
