Jacki Street, PA to the Directors, organised the trip. She recalls, “We departed from Epsom on a double-decker coach supplied by Westway Coaches of London, with Continental breakfasts and hot drinks supplied by two delightful Westway hostesses during the journey.”
When the group arrived at the castle, they were met at the turnstiles by an entertaining young man in full regalia. Jacki states, “This included a magnificent plumed feather hat!He then gave us a private tour of the castle, which as you can imagine, was not an easy task with such a large number of people but everyone enjoyed the content.”
There was then opportunity for the group to stroll around the grounds. “These are stunning at the best of times,” says Jacki. “But were particularly so as they had been decked out with Christmas glitter, decorated trees and fairy lights. It was magical.”
A private lunch followed in the Coach House, where the group were greeted on arrival with a very welcome glass of mulled wine. “After this, we sat down to a scrumptious Christmas lunch,” says Jacki. “All credit to the chef who was more than accommodating to one member of the group who is a raw organic vegan. He liaised with her direct prior to the visit to make sure she was happy with his suggestions.” After lunch, the group headed to Bicester Retail Shopping Village, just 45 minutes outside Warwick. Again, the full Christmas spirit was evident and the group secured some festive bargains.
Jacki concludes, “I would certainly recommend Warwick Castle if you are considering a staff outing. And particular thanks go to Westwood Coaches for taking all the trouble out of organising transport!”
