City Cruises, the River Thames boat operator, were pleased to recently showcase their newly acquired Poole Harbour operation – their first outside London – on a trip attended by Editorial Director Peter Stonham. Their Blue Line Cruises vessel, the Solent Scene, provides a 45-minute excursion around the harbour, looking at sights such as Brownsea Island and the houses of Sandbanks. On the visit, the emerging new business strategy was explained by Matthew, son of City Cruises’ founders Rita and Gary Beckwith, and Head of Sales and Marketing Clare Newman over fish and chips onboard. City Cruises are now interested in broadening their leisure tourism activities outside London. Various local marketing hook ups with Poole Tourism include the afternoon tour by Granny Cousins telling tales of ghosts in the Old Town, that was included in the visit.
