Dunrobin engine back in service

COUNTY Durham’s Beamish Museum has purchased the long expatriated 0-4-4T Dunrobin, the steam locomotive used to pull the private train belonging to the Duke of Sutherland at Dunrobin Castle in Scotland.

The engine will be overhauled for use on the Museum’s reconstructed North Eastern Railway branch line, pulling rolling stock that will include the Duke of Sutherland’s private four-wheel carriage, which has also been purchased as part of the deal.
The Beamish Museum offers discounted admission for prebooked groups of 15 or more.
