Egyptian Queen in Milwaukee

THE world of Cleopatra VII, lost to the sea and sand for nearly 2,000 years, surfaced at the Milwaukee Public Museum this month when ‘Cleopatra: The Search for the Last Queen of Egypt’ opened its doors.

The timed-entry exhibition, running until 30th April 2012, features nearly 150 artefacts on view for the first time in the US and helps visitors experience the present-day search for the elusive queen, which extends from the sands of Egypt to the depths of the Bay of Aboukir near Alexandria.
Artefacts range from gold coins to colossal granite statues.
