Blists Hill Victorian Town, one of the Ironbridge Gorge Museums in Shropshire is offering groups the ‘Perfect Taste of Christmas’ on Tuesdays to Thursdays throughout December.
During the run-up to Christmas and between Christmas and New Year, groups can enjoy ‘Festive Lunch Offers’ and visit the Victorian town with its shops, cottage and places of work decorated with traditional Christmas decorations.
Victorian Christmas Weekends running on 8th & 9th and 15th & 16th December serve up seasonal entertainment and festive food and drink, with discounted rates for groups of 15 or more. The 2019 Victorian Christmas Weekend dates are 7th & 8th and 14th & 15th December 2019) with any bookings confirmed before 31st December 2018 qualifying for this year’s discounted rates.
Located close to Kew Bridge on the north side of the Thames, the Musical Museum houses a renowned collection of mechanical musical instruments and a Mighty Wurlitzer organ which rises up from beneath the stage to entertain visitors at Christmas concerts.
Chris Barber, resident organist, plays the Wurlitzer and accompanies guest vocalists in popular numbers from stage and screen, plus seasonal favourites.
This year’s theme is ‘Christmas in New York’ so, thanks to the use of spectacular lighting and projection, the audience will be whisked to Manhattan in the snow to skate in the park. A seasonal afternoon tea, a glass of prosecco and crackers are included – runs on selected days from 19th November to 15th December.
Another London venue worth considering for a festive get-together with your group is the Faulty Towers – The Dining Experience, taking place at the Radisson Blu Edwardian hotel.
The two-hour interactive production is set in the restaurant and you and your group will be served lunch or dinner while you enjoy the antics of Basil, Sybil and Manuel. It will provide your group with an amusing interlude from festive preparations!
Salisbury Cathedral officially starts the festive season with the Cathedral’s famous advent procession ‘From Darkness to Light’ (30th November to 2nd December).The service opens with a single voice in total darkness before the advent candle flickers into life, 1300 candles are lit and the service builds to a crescendo with music from the full Cathedral choir.
Salisbury Cathedral also has a special service for groups (12th and 13th December) led by the Cathedral choir when visitors can sing favourite carols and enjoy a glass of mulled wine with minced pies. Twilight Tower Tours and cream tea packages are available.
Absorb the delights of the capital illuminated for Christmas on an open-top bus tour with The Original Tour. This journey around the London sights will capture the magic of Christmas and give your members a top class view of the famous lights that decorate the streets and buildings of the city, and while a guide reveals some anecdotes of Christmas past and present. Departures run from Thursday to Sunday in November and daily in December.
