Hestercombe’s brush with royalty

Guided by Chief Executive, Philip White, he was given a first hand insight into the spectacular restoration work that has transformed the garden over the last decade. He met many of those responsible including gardeners, volunteers, builders, carpenters and the local blacksmith who worked on the conversion of the 17th century mill and barn that was officially opened on the day by the Duke.
Groups should arrange a visit to the historic gardens for themselves to see the restoration work first hand. Other highlights include the Grade I-listed Edwardian garden designed by Edwin Lutyens and Gertrude Jekyll, a Landscape Garden and multi-million pound visitor centre in the Victorian coach yard.
