Holidaying in Hampshire

Sarah also recently spent the weekend in Hampshire with her husband, Pete, and daughter, Caitilin, staying at Away Resort’s Mill Rythe Holiday Village on Hayling Island for a Halloween Activity and Entertainment Break.

They stayed in a lovely Ambassador Room, which had all the comforts of home, and enjoyed breakfast and dinner each day in the restaurant on site. Over the weekend there were lots of super Halloween-themed activities for families to join in with and fantastic shows performed by the on-site entertainment team each evening. Sarah especially enjoyed the Vive Latino show, which really created a party atmosphere amongst the guests, whilst Caitlin enjoyed the toffee apple-making!

Whilst in Hampshire, Sarah and her family paid a visit to Portsmouth Historic Dockyard. She was amazed by how much there was to see and do. They spent a full day on site and managed to visit HMS Victory, HMS Warrior 1860, the National Museum of the Royal Navy Portsmouth and The Mary Rose. The Mary Rose is the only 16th century warship on display anywhere in the world and is housed in a new purpose-built museum, together with many artefacts, capturing the moment in time when she sank over 470 years ago. Sarah said ‘I remember watching her on TV when she was lifted from the sea bed, so it was a fantastic experience to be able to visit her and see her for myself’.

Sarah also visited the spectacular Emirates Spinnaker Tower and each of the three viewing decks, for the breathtaking views stretching over 23 miles across the Solent, another great activity for groups.
