House offers high-rise views

CHATSWORTH House is offering groups views of its garden, parkland and surrounding Peak District countryside from a once-in-a-lifetime vantage point.

Visitors to Chatsworth House admire the view from the temporary walkway.

Visitors to Chatsworth House admire the view from the temporary walkway.

Until the end of the year, visitors to the property will be able to access a walkway running alongside the top floor, 50 feet up.
The house is currently undergoing a £14 million restoration and the walkway has been built into scaffolding used to access stonework that is being cleaned for the first time in 300 years.
As well as the views, visitors who climb up to the walkway will be able to see a preview of the restoration work before the restored stonework is unveiled next year.
Chatsworth offers reduced rates of entry for groups of 15 or more.
A small extra charge is payable for access to the walkway.
