Jordan launches tourism strategy

A NATIONAL Tourism Strategy has been launched for Jordan, which has been developed by the private sector.

The 2011-2015 strategy focuses on activities that will improve the competitiveness of Jordan’s tourism industry, enhance the visitor experience through product development, and attract more visitors to the country throughout the year.
Marketing activity will be increased with the focus on increasing the total number of tourist arrivals to 9.4 million, and reducing seasonality so that visitor numbers are more consistently distributed throughout the year.
The Jordan tourism industry’s product development efforts will be particularly focused on increasing air capacity into Jordan by 20% over the next five years, as well as completing 20 new infrastructure projects, and ensuring that all hotels and 80% of restaurants are approved and grouped under the new national classifications scheme.
