A brand new multi-million pound museum is to open in Kimmeridge, Dorset, housing a collection of Jurassic Coast fossils.

Set to showcase the life’s work of local collector Steve Etches, it will tell the story of life and death under the seas of Kimmeridge over 150 million years ago.

The museum will include an exhibition gallery, with CGI projections on the ceiling designed to give visitors the sense that they are in an underwater, glass-roofed vessel surrounded by prehistoric creatures.

The Etches Collection itself will be showcased in illuminated cabinets and a visible workshop will allow visitors to witness the preparation of local fossils first hand.

The Etches Collection is due to open late this summer. Ticket prices have yet to be decided.
