New packages from Bowes

THE Bowes Museum, in County Durham, has teamed up with some of the region’s tourist attractions to create one and two-day bespoke packages aimed at the group travel market.

Treasure Trails consists of a ‘pick and mix’ of itineraries, with venues forming a partnership to create excursions to capture this growing sector of the visitor market.
One of the suggested trips involves heading to The Bowes Museum for a guided tour, followed by lunch in the opulent surroundings of the Jubilee Room, then watching a performance of the Silver Swan musical automaton, before heading off to the neighbouring Raby Castle for afternoon tea, or to Rokeby Park for a private tour of the hall.
Other venues and itineraries involve; Crook Hall & Gardens, a hidden gem in the heart of Durham City; Kiplin Hall, built in the 17th century by George Calvert, founder of Maryland in the United States; and the National Trust property of Gibside, with its Column of Liberty, Palladian Chapel and Georgian stables.
