The beginning of this year saw me at two exciting exhibitions for GTO. Firstly, in the middle of January, Excursions took place at Alexandra Palace in London. The magazine is a co-organiser of this event with Tourism South East, and I was delighted with the turn out, both from exhibitors and visitors alike.
It was great to see so many readers there, even though I was rushing around quite a lot! The 2011 event ranks as one of our best years yet, with really busy stands throughout the day and a buzzing atmosphere around the venue.
Of course, it was made all the better by meeting Nigel Harman, due to begin his role as Lord Farquaad in Shrek the Musical this May, who kindly opened the show! He spent time visiting some of the stands and I was able to sneak a few minutes for a picture.

The second show on the New Year calendar was our very first Tourism and Events Showcase, which took place at Doncaster Racecourse at the start of February. The turn out was very positive for a brand new event, with over 200 visitors making the trip to Yorkshire. We had some great feedback, along with positive thoughts on Excursions 2011.
