Paris in Summer
GTO’s Sarah Jeffery recently enjoyed a visit to the beautiful French capital with her daughter Caitlin. Staying near Trocadero, they enjoyed a cruise on the Seine aboard one of Vedettes de Paris’ crafts. The one-hour cruise began at the foot of the Eiffel Tower and traveled along the river into the centre of Paris, taking in fabulous Parisian landmarks such as Notre Dame, the Louvre and the Palais de Justice.
Whilst the river was a great way to see Paris, the best way has to be on a Big Bus Tour. The Big Bus Day Tour ticket allows visitors to hop-off and hop-on at any one of the conveniently located bus stops to visit the city’s major landmarks. Buses come along every 10 to 15 minutes, so once you have finished exploring an attraction, it’s easy to jump back on and resume the tour. Listening to the commentary enroute, Sarah especially enjoyed visiting Place de la Concorde, the largest square in Paris, created in 1755. Another favourite was found by switching bus routes to the ‘blue route’, taking in the Sacré-Cœur Basilica, located at the summit of the Butte Montmartre and an awe-inspiring sight to behold.
All in all, it was a lovely break, and Sarah and Caitlin look forward to returning to Paris to explore some more!
