Phill Jupitus to appear in music hall comedy

Phill Jupitus will star in the premiere of Big Society! A Music Hall Comedy at the newlyrefurbished City Varieties Music Hall in Leeds next year.

Jupitus is best known for his appearances on BBC2 quiz show Never Mind the Buzzcocks and recently played Edna Turnblad in the West End production of Hairspray.
Centred around a cast of showmen, starlets and ventriloquists, and set in the Leeds City Varieties of a century ago, Big Society! will invite audiences to sing along with the assembled conjurers, drunks and suffragettes as they wrestle with the forces of wealth and morality in a concoction of comedy, class and catchy choruses.
Twelve new songs written by Boff Whalley of Chumbawamba will feature in the show, and will be performed by the band.
Big Society! A Music Hall Comedy will play at the City Varieties Music Hall in Leeds from 18th January to 4th February 2012.
