Quids in at Ascot

Racing in action at Royal Ascot.

To celebrate her birthday, Laura Klein from Bexhill-on-Sea, East Sussex, organised for a group of 18 friends to attend Royal Ascot’s Ladies Day on 21st June at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.

After contacting the Groups Team at Ascot via the website, Laura was allocated her own booking agent, Laura Sangwin. Laura comments, “She was extremely helpful and sent me lots of information on the group packages available, then once I was ready to pay, I made the transaction painlessly over the telephone.”

Laura chose the Party Package, which is great for those who have never been racing before. She explains, “The ticket included entry into the Silver Ring, a £2 tote bet, a race card and three drinks vouchers per person.”

On arrival, the group found a spot within metres of the racecourse along the straight mile and Laura says, “We had the perfect view as the horses sprinted past and we could feel the thundering of the hooves beneath us. It was also a fantastic position to catch the Royal Procession!”

Laura continues, “Although the roar after each race could be heard from the car park, the atmosphere in the Silver Ring was still laid back and relaxed, and we were able to bring along our own picnics.” Once the racing was over, Ascot’s house band began playing in the main tent and, as Laura says, “The music provided a perfect finish to the day.”

The group travelled to Ascot Racecourse by minibus, which Laura arranged with 247247 Taxis of Hastings. She recalls, “Our driver was very co-operative and there was plenty of parking available at the venue.”

Of the whole experience, Laura says, “It was a perfect English summer day out and a great excuse to dress up in fancy headwear and get all my nearest and dearest friends together. I would recommend it to any group, male or female, looking for a great day out with a difference.”
