Much of the tower has been closed to the public since it was bought by Blackpool Council in March 2010 as part of an ambitious £250 million regeneration programme for the town.
Since then Blackpool Council has been working in partnership with Merlin Entertainments to restore and transform the tower, retaining the grandeur and heritage of the building itself – including the famous Tower Ballroom and Tower Circus – while also adding two more attractions. The Blackpool Tower Dungeon offers a fun look at the north west’s gruesome history, while the Blackpool Tower Eye presents a new 4D cinema experience and Skywalk, a glass floor and observation platform at the very top of the steel structure.
Access to The Blackpool Tower, including the Tower Ballroom, lower observation areas and restaurants, is free; however, there is a charge for the other attractions. Discounts are available.
