The GTO team was out in force at World Travel Market at ExCeL in London at the beginning of November. Editorial Director Peter Stonham enjoyed meeting a number of the cultural characters working on the stands including an exotically-dressed one from Kerala in India, plus had his name inscribed on a fan on the Japanese stand by a calligrapher and visited the Korean stand where he enjoyed some traditional block printing. GTO’s Feature Writer, Brenda Watkinson, met Development Director of the Tourist Office at Chalon sur Saône in France, Jérôme Marche, who explained all about Guédelon, where a team of master craftsmen are building a castle from scratch using medieval techiques, whilst I talked to Jared Alster, the founder of new company Stride Travel, based in San Francisco, a web portal for finding the best guided tours and holidays for your group. It should go live shortly!
