Royal Philharmonic come up trumps

Jo Whiterod, who belongs to the Worshipful Company of Chartered Secretaries & Administrators, one of the City of London Livery Companies, and sits on its Livery Liaison Group (LLG), enjoyed organising a trip to the John Rutter Christmas Celebration last year through the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (RPO).

She comments. “One of the pleasures of being an LLG member is the chance to do interesting and enjoyable things with a group of like-minded people.”

Jo had been an individual Friend of the RPO for some years, so when the LLG wanted to go to a carol concert last year, John Rutter’s Christmas Celebration with the RPO at the Royal Albert Hall was the natural choice. She says, “In my naivety, I had thought there would be no problem at all in getting seats if we booked as far ahead as April. How wrong I was!

She continues, “I initially asked for 10 tickets, but hopelessly underestimated interest. The wonderful Jo Thomson at the RPO went to extraordinary lengths to ensure that as many of my group as possible could attend. We stopped at 40, when the hall was fully booked. Even so, Jo managed to find us another pair of seats when someone cancelled later in the year. For patience, good humour and customer service beyond the call of duty, her office must be up there with the best of them.”

Dates for the 2011 event are already booked up but for those thinking of 2012, then tickets should go on sale in February.
