See the best of Wrest

THE LANDSCAPE garden at English Heritage’s Wrest Park in Bedfordshire will re-open in August, following a £1.14 million Heritage Lottery Fund makeover.

It will boast newly-restored garden areas, new exhibitions and a new visitor centre in its Walled Garden – complete with introductory exhibition, shop and 74-seater cafe.
There will also be more to see of the 90-acre landscape, with improved access to the recentlyrestored Italian and Rose Gardens.
Groups will soon also be able to explore the whole of the Grade I listed grounds via a network of reinstated paths. An audio tour is included in the admission price and guided tours may be prebooked.
Meanwhile, inside the mansion, two new exhibitions tell the story of the estate, and the newlyrestored Countess’ Sitting Room can be viewed.
