Serpentine gallery due to expand

THE Serpentine Gallery in London has been awarded a contract by The Royal Parks to establish a new gallery in The Magazine building in Kensington Gardens.

To be known as the Serpentine Sackler Gallery, the building will be renovated by Pritzker Prizewinning architect Zaha Hadid.
The Serpentine Sackler Gallery will offer over 800 square metres of gallery space, as well as a restaurant, cafe and shop.
Commissioning new work will be at the heart of the gallery’s programme, including an annual large-scale light installation inside the building.
The gallery will be free of charge and is due to open in time for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
