A gala launch party and naming ceremony for the new Cruise and Maritime Voyages (CMV) acquisition Magellan provided a delightful evening on board at Tilbury for Editorial Director Peter Stonham and his friend Agi Sakowicz in March. The ship accommodates around 1,250 passengers and marks a further step forward for CMV. It was formerly with Carnival Cruises and despite being 30 years old is in a very smart condition. It brings the CMV fleet of ocean liners up to four, one of which provides a service between the UK, Australia and South Africa.

Peter enjoyed the entertainment and excellent evening meal plus a firework display and overnight stay onboard. There is obviously going to be a good deal of interest amongst groups in this ship, which made its first trip north to the Arctic Circle to witness the solar eclipse! Peter was pleased to make the trip from our Hastings office and cross the Thames to Tilbury by the little-known passenger ferry across the river from Gravesend.
