Shot in the arm for Jenner home

BASED at the Chantry near Berkeley, Gloucestershire, the Edward Jenner Museum has opened for a new season following a programme of redevelopment.

This year, visitors will benefit from new audio interpretation to guide them around the historic house and grounds, former home of vaccination pioneer Dr Edward Jenner, and will also be able to see inside the newlyrestored ‘Temple of Vaccinia’, where he administered free vaccinations in the late 18th and early 19th centuries.
The Grade II-listed ‘temple’ has been re-thatched and repointed with lime mortar and a new leaded light window has been put in, a perfect replica of the original. An educational film has also been introduced.
The Edward Jenner Museum offers special entry rates for groups, and a joint ticket including nearby Berkeley Castle is also available.
