Southport’s Victoria Park hosts pyromusical competition
Editorial director, Peter Stonham, feature writer Brenda Watkinson, show organiser Elizabeth Mounser and Val Baynton were all keen to attend and were ‘blown away’ by the spectacular show!
Set in Southport’s Victoria Park, the competition took place over three nights and this year featured the winners of the previous seven years. As a pyromusical competition, the fireworks were timed with music and the entire show is choreographed to create a spectacular display.
Each competitor performed for 16 to 18 minutes and the shows were judged by a panel of professionals who have designed shows for stars such as Pink Floyd, The Rolling Stones, Rod Stewart, Tina Turner and Queen.
The eventual Champion of Champions was Sirotechnics Fireworks. Whilst we were not able to see this winning display, we and the GTOs on the fam trip were thrilled and thoroughly entertained by the 90 minutes lively music and the excellent firework interpretations presented by Flashpoint Fireworks and Westcoast Fireworks.
