The UK cruise market is strong…

I’m pleased to introduce the second of GTO’s Cruise News pages with a look at the prospects for 2011 and beyond.

Cruise For Groups

Although there was an on-going decline in the total number of foreign holidays taken last year, cruise holidays continued to grow by 6%. About 5.5 million Europeans chose to cruise last year, which included 1.62 million Britons. Despite the challenging economic environment, there is unlikely to be a buck in the trend of growth with the Passenger Shipping Association forecasting the numbers of Britons enjoying ocean cruising increasing to 1.7 million in 2011.
Southampton is the busiest cruise port in Northern Europe with UK passengers filling more than 40% of all cruises sailing from British ports. With eight-night cruises from Southampton priced from just £565 and already on sale for 2012, this is on course to steadily increase.
A growing number of GTOs already recognise that cruising offers a high quality value for money experience and these numbers are projected to swell significantly in 2012 with incredible early group booking incentives.
