…to showcase highlights of the region

John Turner and Ellie Gough from Somerset Tourism Association were our enthusiastic hosts, along with Mike Ogborne, Maurice Duckworth and Andy Saunders from First.

With Michael Eavis and the Witch of Wookey Hole.

Michael Eavis, the man behind the Glastonbury Festival, is supporting the initiative in his role as ambassador for the county and welcomed us at Castle Cary train station with a few classic Somerset characters in tow (as you can see from the picture above!). A visit to hear The Bootleg Beatles and Status Quo at the Glastonbury Extravaganza at the Abbey, which he also organises, was something we were able to enjoy during our stay as well as visiting Clarks Village, Wookey Hole – where we stayed at the recently opened hotel – and Cheddar Gorge. We were also able to stop at the beautiful city of Wells and at the Roman Baths in Bath where we discovered that your group can book a very tasty cream tea and introductory talk in the former Victorian smoking room. The trip was wonderfully organised and we would certainly recommend trying the package out for size and sampling the many delights of the area.
