Trains to fare well at new attraction

THE Museum of the American Railroad is to re-open at a new 12 acre site in Frisco, Texas, midway through next year.

The project will relocate one of the USA’s finest collections of 20th century railway artefacts from its current home at Fair Park in Dallas.
The new facility will give the museum far more space to display its collection of over 40 locomotives and rail cars, including a selection of Pullman first-class sleeping cars from the 1920s.
The first phase of construction, including the installation of nearly a mile of track, is already underway, and the trains will move at the end of this year.
Details of group rates at the relocated museum have yet to be announced, but group tours are available at the current site, which will remain open until the end of this year.
