Upgrade for Micklegate museums

Micklegate Bar Museum will be home to the Henry VII Experience.

MUSEUMS at two of York’s historic Bars are to undergo major refurbishments, having been taken over by operator The JORVIK Group, which already runs the Viking Centre and DIG.

The museum at Monk Bar will re-open by Easter as The Richard III Experience, while the former Micklegate Bar Museum will become home to The Henry VII Experience.

The developments aim to capitalise on increased international interest in Richard following the discovery of his remains under a Leicester car park and tickets will be available giving entry to each museum separately or both together, with a special ‘Medieval Pass’ also incorporating nearby Barley Hall, a reconstructed medieval townhouse.
