Walsh replaces pregnant Holden in Shrek

Kimberley Walsh of pop group Girls Aloud will replace Amanda Holden as Princess Fiona in Shrek the Musical from 5th October.

Walsh’s casting was announced alongside news that Holden, who miscarried a baby earlier this year, is pregnant once more and, as a result, will leave the show on 3rd October, two months earlier than planned.
In 2008, Walsh took part in an ITV2 documentary, The Passions of Girls Aloud, that revealed her love of musical theatre and followed her as she undertook training for a one-off appearance in Les Misérables at the Queen’s Theatre.
Based on the hit Dreamworks film, Shrek The Musical currently stars Nigel Lindsay as Shrek, Nigel Harman as Lord Farquaad and Richard Blackwood as Donkey.
Shrek the Musical is booking to 21st October 2012 at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane. Groups of six or more qualify for a discount.
