In November last year, GTO’s Feature Writer Brenda Watkinson spent a week in the lovely city of Genoa in the Italian region of Liguria.Although not on the main tourist trail, Brenda found Genoa to be a fascinating destination with lots to see and do, and would certainly recommend it to groups.
One of the highlights of her stay was a day trip to the Cinque Terre, five picturesque fishing villages clinging to the coastline. Easily reached by train from Genoa, Brenda explored the area travelling by boat from village to village.Another highlight of Brenda’s week was exploring the Cemetery of Staglieno. Whilst a cemetery might seem like a strange attraction, this particular cemetery features a huge range of monuments, statues, memorials and sculptures and is well worth visiting.
With many other attractions including the Genoa Aquarium, the San Lorenzo Cathedral and the Rolli Palaces, Brenda says
“Genoa is a great place to explore”.
