GTO’s Editorial Director Peter Stonham and a couple of colleagues had a really enjoyable day out recently to see the new arrangements for visiting the lovely Borde Hill garden in West Sussex.
It is set in over 200 acres of garden, park and woodlands with commanding views across the Sussex High Weald. Planted in ‘living garden rooms’, each offering a different character and style, during the Midsummer visit, there was a particular delight around the water feature garden, and the rose bushes.
The new social distancing requirements hardly detracted at all from the chance to spend time in such a beautiful environment, and the sitting out arrangements took advantage of the space available, and the chance to take refreshments in the open air.
Peter, Luciana and Tom were particularly pleased to walk round with the owner Eleni Stephenson Clarke, who ably demonstrated her pride in the planting layouts and visitor experience that she and her husband have carefully created.
